An In Depth Look At Top Defensive Prospects For Next Year

The 2012 NFL Draft was headlined by several top offensive players.  However, the strength of the 2013 NFL Draft looks like it will be the defensive players. There are five NFL defensive prospects that will be drafted high and will have an immediate impact in the league.

Top Offensive Prospects For The 2013 Draft

While the 2012 NFL Draft has just been completed, it is never too early to start looking at the 2013 NFL Draft. There are five offensive college players that should be drafted very early in the 2013 Draft.

The top offensive prospect for next year is Matt Barkley, the quarterback for USC. Barkley has shown that he has a very strong arm, is mobile in the pocket, and is a pure leader and winner. With a good college season, Barkley should solidify himself as the number one pick.

Top 5 Steals From This Year’s Draft

NFL teams spend a fortune locating, scouting and researching prospects, but as evidence of how inexact this “science” is, look no further than Tom Brady and Wes Welker. Brady lasted to the 6th round (pick 199) in the 2000 NFL Draft, while Welker went undrafted in 2004. Both are now perennial All-Pros, and headed to the Hall of Fame.

The 2012 NFL Draft: A Recap

The recent emphasis on passing was evident in the 2012 NFL Draft with the first two selections being QBs. Stanford’s Andrew Luck was the first pick, going to Indianapolis as the replacement for record-setting Peyton Manning, who signed with Denver. Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III was selected next by Washington, who hope Griffin’s multi-threat capabilities will solve their long-time QB woes.
